Vibhuti Paste

Vibhuti, also known as Thiruneeru or Bhasma, is a sacred ash used since time immemorial in Indian rituals. Traditionally made using cow dung or burnt wood, Lord Shiva is said to have smeared his body with Vibhuti. In South India, Vibhuti is used as an everyday application on one’s forehead, neck and hands. It is believed that the wearer receives protection and develops a spiritual aura, akin to the goodness of Kumkum and Chandan. Vibhuti is distributed among devotees in temples along with Theertha, flowers and Kumkum.
